7 Questions with… Michael K.

mkirkland.JPG1. What do you do at Cutline?

I provide my colleagues with stern looks of disapproval whenever they use poor grammar. And, you know, some PR stuff when I have time.

2. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Honestly, I'll take anyplace but the stretch of Hwy 101 between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. For those of you not familiar with the Bay Area: Worst. Commute. Ever.

3. What’s the one gadget or service you wish someone would come up with?

A hyperadvanced voice-based UI for computers and devices, just like the ones in Star Trek. I want to be able to sit in my chair at home and fire requests into the ether, and have my computer respond to them promptly and intelligently. (I already do the first part now, but my wife and dog pretty much just ignore me.)

4. If you could be any type of car, what would you be?

An Aston Martin DB5, like the one in Goldfinger. Or anything else that combines classic good looks with unbelievable performance. *Ahem*

5. What’s your “greatest” moment in PR?

The first time I helped diffuse a negative (and wholly unfair) story about one of our client's products. Working on something like that is kind of like being on the A-Team of the PR world. All the way down to the rad van and occasionally having to punch some people out to get them on a plane.

6. Beer or wine?

Beer at lunchtime, wine at dinnertime. Duh!

7. Are you a pirate or a ninja?

I'm a pirate -- but I was basically shanghaied. Yes, it's a long story.
