Cutline Speaks
All the news that’s fit to…post?

Another interesting round of developments in the news media last week, with speculation that the Hearst-owned Seattle Post-Intelligencer may close its print operation and go online-only. We also saw a mea culpa from Phil Bronstein, publisher-at-large at the San Francisco Chronicle (also owned by Hearst, and reportedly losing roughly a million dollars a week).
This follows an announcement last year from the Christian Science Monitor that they'll be moving to online-only, and an extended debate on the web in recent weeks on how the print news media might resurrect itself -- and what the consequences might be if they can't.
What do you think about the crisis the print media finds itself in? Any ideas on what papers can do to address the challenges they face? And what do you think will happen to American journalism -- the so-called fourth estate -- if they can't? Weigh in below in the comments section.
