Cutline cRaves: March 21, 2008

posted by The Cutline Team on March 21, 2008

Spring is officially here, the sun is shining, and plenty of great events are just around the corner. Here's what we're raving about for another weekend in the city. More after the jump…

* With the temptations of spring weather just around the corner, I'll be heading out of the city for some hiking! I'll be spending most of the weekend checking the weather for some optimal sun time and packing my bags to get some fresh air in Muir Woods and Golden Gate Park. I'm also hitting up the Vampire Weekend concert in the city on Saturday. Love my indie bands. – Meghan

* I'm addicted to Cuties - Cuties Californian Clementines that is! These delicious little guys are really good this year. Not too sweet, not too tart. Yum. – Jennifer

* The interwebs are abuzz with talk of Apple's plans to offer a subscription based music service through iTunes to its healthy base of iPod and iPhone users. I must admit, this does sound very appealing, but in the meantime, I'll keep heading to Amoeba Records in the Haight to find my more esoteric selections among their expansive collection of used records. – Christian

* March Madness! I'll be spending the next couple of weeks following the 2008 NCAA men's basketball tourney, logging way too much TV time and sending way too many texts to Google SMS to check scores. Might not be the year for my Spartans -- they've struggled all year with consistency -- but don't sleep on them. They handled Temple in the first round, and if senior PG Drew Neitzel catches fire, the Spartys will be a very tough draw in the South. – Michael

* I'll be hitting the pavement to run this Presidio course. I'll be working a lot of hills, which I've learned is a secret weapon in triathlon training. Wish me luck. - Morgan

Have a great weekend!

A quick message for Meghan - I’m totally with you on the Vampire Weekend front..  Although I am quite jealous you were able to catch them live.  Sadly, it doesn’t seem like a DC-area show is on the horizon.. Too bad the SF show wasn’t in 2 weeks from now, when myself and another MGI-er are making the trek out to CA.  However, if anyone out there knows of any good music happening the week of April 7-12, feel free to drop me a line.

Hi Mike,

Glad to hear you’re coming out - and happy to see you comment on the blog. Here are some suggestions for places to see music when you’re out here:

The Fillmore
The Independent
Bottom of the Hill
Slim’s
Cafe du Nord
Rickshaw Stop

That should get you started. One thing to note, things sell out here pretty quickly (I was surprised by this when I moved here from DC). Hope this helps! jp
