Four Nexus One Phone Apps for Fun and for Business
posted by LizM on March 17, 2010
The Nexus One has to be one of my favorite phones, and one of my favorite parts about it so far has been downloading and exploring all the different apps. I've made a list of my favorites so far:
Just For Fun
- FxCamera: This app has probably given the most entertainment to my friends and me. The camera, with options like the Fisheye lense (not the most flattering for up-close pictures, but still really funny); Polandroid mode (turns pictures into Polaroids); ToyCam (imitates a toy camera with cool hues and an almost antique look); and the AndyWarholizer mode make it super easy and fun to take cool pictures and upload them directly to Facebook and Twitter.
- Ron Burgundy App: My friends and I can never seem to get over the one-liners Ron Burgundy graces us with in the movie "Anchorman", and this app has four pages full of them. You can set them as ringtones and alerts. I now wake up to Ron Burgundy screaming "The man punted Baxter!"
Just For Business (or School)
- NPR News: I normally turn to Twitter to browse NPR headlines that catch my eye, and this is a great alternative. The app is set up in a simple and clear way with the lists: Top Stories, Topics, Programs, and Search, making it extra simple and easy for me to read and select relevant and interesting stories.
- ColorNote Notepad Notes: One of the biggest things I struggle with when it comes to keeping organized with school and work is keeping my planner up to date; I would always forget it at home and end up writing down my to-do lists on random scraps of paper that I ended up losing, or I just plain forgot to write things down at all. When I got my Nexus One, all of that changed with the Notepad Notes app. It allows me to easily create color coded notes, as well as checklists that appear as crossed out when you've finished everything on the list. Since I have my phone on me at all times, taking down quick notes is simple and easy, and my life feels a lot more organized.
Overall, having these apps at my fingertips at all times has not only made keeping organized and up to do date on current events a lot more convenient on my constant travels from school to work, but provided some entertainment to my friends and me as well. I'm excited to see what the new apps will have to offer in the future.
