Cutline Speaks
iPhones for Enterprise?
posted by Michael on March 5, 2008
Nice piece from BusinessWeek in advance of some expected news from Apple this week, including a possible push from Apple to get iPhones into the hands of business users. The reporter, Peter Burrows, does a good job of laying out some of the challenges Apple would have to surmount to be successful in such an initiative.
I have to say, though: I've been using my first-gen 8GB iPhone for business purposes for quite some time now, and it already works pretty well. Granted, that may be because Cutline uses Google Apps, so we're already moving toward browser-based computing -- something the iPhone excels at. There's no question that RIM's BlackBerry is currently the more efficient device for managing email, but I think the playing field may eventually be leveled a bit as mobile network and browser technologies become more and more advanced. Should be interesting to see this play out.
