Cutline Speaks

Love at first sight

I'm a gadget guy, but I tend to be a fairly selective one. I'm not the kind of person who snaps up all the latest and greatest toys -- no matter how cool they might be -- but am rather someone who tends to fall hard for a few small items, and then mostly ignore everything else. What this means, of course, is that for every great technology purchase I've made over the years, there are usually two or three mistakes gathering dust in a closet somewhere. It also means that when I read about all the latest and greatest things launching every day (which, you know, is part of my job), I tend not to get sucked into the hype.

But every so often, I read about a new piece of gear that sounds so cool, I instantly succumb. And today, sorting through the latest tech reviews, I hit on the latest irresistible object: The Optoma Pico Projector. This pocket-size wonder clocks in at 2 inches by 4.1 inches by 0.7 inches and 4.2 ounces, and can be hooked up to DVD players, game consoles, PCs, digital cameras, iPods, and all sorts of other gear. And you can bet that when it launches in a couple of weeks, I'll be one of the first in line to buy it.
