I attended San Francisco's Mobile meetup last week to hear from a few really cool companies in the consumer mobile space.  One overarching theme of the evening was mobile tools to accommodate consumers' life on the go.  Check out this company called HearPlanet. It's an application you can download on your iPhone to search and find audio guides for your favorite attractions or destinations. The CEO, Steve, gave an interactive demo of how the application works using Alcatraz Island as our attraction. The coolest feature of HearPlanet is its location based search function which finds your location and then serves up audio guides on attractions nearby. Besides being more compact than a bulky travel guidebook, HearPlanet gives you a fun way to learn about a city (versus standing a street corner hovering over a guidebook).

Check out the other companies below who presented last evening. Looking forward to seeing what our friend Lars puts together for the next great meetup!
