Spin On

Now, I bet you were thinking that I was going to talk about some change in the way PR is done. Yes, we're all spin doctors. It's OK, we've also been called worse. But this isn't necessarily about PR. Or, actually, it could be. Imagine a world where you...

... don't actually have to step out of a meeting to check your voicemail but instead can have it converted to text and sent to you via email or SMS.

... could easily send yourself a note (a real note, not a mental note) when you're driving down the road and remember some important thing that you need to take care of soon.

... have the greatest status message ever for your Facebook profile or want to send your friends a clever Twitter and really just want to pick up the phone and make the change.

... can blog from the road randomly and without wireless access, just by picking up your mobile phone.

Well, my friends, that world is now here, thanks to the fine folks at SpinVox! (Side note: Perhaps this was all possible before SpinVox, but it definitely wasn't as cool.) With SpinVox you can have your voicemail converted to text and sent to you via SMS and email (complete with the call-back number); change your status message on Facebook or Twitter away with your friends (in fact, you can send the same message simultaneously to your friends on Twitter and make it your Facebook status message); call a number, speak what's on your mind, and either send yourself a memo via email or post something to your blog. Genius.

I've been using SpinVox to test all of these services and I have to say... I love it! It's not 100 percent but it's pretty close (for example, it thinks my nephew "Ryan" is a "Lion"). It's easy to use and extraordinarily useful, especially voicemail conversion. Now I can see what my callers need and determine whether or not I need to excuse myself from a meeting, dinner, or whatever to return the call. In this business, we're 24/7 and having a service like this is super helpful. Which makes the world of PR, which is the world I live in, even more productive.

You, too, should find out which SpinVox is right for you. Spin on, people, spin on.
