Want to Find Cheap Gas? Go Online.
posted by Morgan on May 29, 2008
Tuesday marked the 21st day of record high gas prices in the U.S. Like many other Americans, I'm trying to reduce the amount of gas I use and drive fewer days per week. While I only drive weekends, I am still constantly keeping my eyes peeled for gas stations with the cheapest gas price. My usual routine when it's time to refill is to do drive-by price comparisons of gas stations in my neighborhood. But since gas is well over $4.00 per gallon, I can no longer waste gas in order to find cheap gas. Thankfully, for my wallet and for the environment, I found a useful web site aimed to give "power to the people at the pump." The site is called Gaspricewatch.com and it helps you find the best gas prices in your area. You simply enter your zip code, and then it displays a map with pop up images of gas prices within the area. Not only can I find where to purchase cheap gas, but I can also make informed purchasing decisions when it comes to buying gas. The site's FAQ section includes all sorts of useful information including tips on how to drive economically, and my favorite, how to purchase gas. Here's a quick tip for you: the best time to purchase gas is before 10 a.m. on Wednesdays.
